I have always enjoyed painting, but never got further than 'O' level at school. It is only within the past few years that I have begun again, having a bit more time. I joined CAG for encouragement, and a local watercolour class. Watercolour is my favourite medium but I enjoy experimenting with others at CAG workshops. I also enjoy crochet, walking and coffee, and am frustrated by gardening but persevere!
I have been painting for over 20 years.
I have a passion for watercolour and very much enjoy its unpredictable nature.
I sell my art on the CAG eShop, and I exhibit locally.
My artwork encompasses social, political and cultural issues. Often referencing the female experience and female rage, my work explores the emotional resonances between lived experience and fine art.
Currently studying for a BA in Fine Art at City and Guilds of London Art School

John Ward, President Caterham Art Group
I have been interested in art all my life.
My burning ambition to paint was rekindled when I retired and joined CAG. I was inspired by the traditional English water-colourists and oil painters of the late 20th century , Edward Sego, Ted Wesson and John Yardley.
I was chairman of the art group for over 10 years before becoming president. I have a passion for teaching art and promoting art as a leisure activity. to discover!
I have always enjoyed painting, drawing and making things. I joined CAG and took lessons with Sandi Gray, Paolo Francis and Adie Parker. My love for mixed media grew. I particularly love working with watercolour, inks and college but have recently delved into acrylics.
I continue to expand my knowledge through on-line courses, there is so much to discover!
I love all kinds of mediums and have been drawing and painting as long as I can remember.

I started painting when I retired from teaching. It is now a very important part of my life and I love practising to improve my drawing skills. Pastels are my favourite medium and portraits, whether human or other animals, my favourite subjects.
I work in graphite, coloured pencil, pastel and I really love doing pyrography (burning wood ). I do commissions mainly of pet portraits and memorial pieces.
